“Ethics and Public Policy in the Sciences”

Christine Jamieson, Project Coordinator. Interim Chair and Associate Professor in the Department of Theological Studies. Dr. Jamieson’s specialization is social ethics. She has done extensive research work for Health Canada on ethical and social issues concerning genetic technology, stem cell research and research involving human subjects. She is a member of the International Association of Catholic Bioethicists (IACB) and has done research with IACB on genetics; stem cell research; and end of life issues such as euthanasia, care of the frail elderly, and withholding and withdrawal of treatment. Her research draws on the work of Canadian theologian and philosopher Bernard Lonergan.

Paul Allen, Assistant Professor in the Department of Theological Studies. Specializing in the interface between theology and science exploring areas such as scientific rationality, value and the unity of worldviews. Dr. Allen has offered courses at Loyola International College in Scientific Inquiry and Globalization and Diversity; and Ethics and Religious Culture in the Department of Theological Studies.

Rosemary Schade: Principal of Loyola International College and Associate Professor in the Department of History. Specializing in 20th Century Germany and Feminist Movements. She has written a number of articles on the German bourgeois feminist movement and on women involved in right wing groups prior to the Nazi seizure of power. She is also working in areas concerning justice and gender, racism. As Principle of Loyola International College, Dr. Shade promotes interdisciplinary discourse that focuses on ethics and globalization.
